Which of your relationships needs a reset?

Reset those relationships that bring you down.

It is perhaps the best investment you ever make! There are so many potential benefits. In the short term you will become happier, lighter and have more energy and in the longer term the skills you learn will improve all your relationships – starting with the one with yourself – and positively affect everyone around you. Seriously, it could transform your life.

An unhealthy relationship with someone close to you can make you deeply miserable, occupy your thoughts and impact on every area of your life. It might be a work colleague, long time friend or life partner, a family member or even one of your children.

Take some time out to address it,

learn tools that reset how you interact with them and

put the relationship on a more positive track.

Relationships grow over time. They bring out the best and the worst in us and they act as a mirror to our unconscious, triggering reactions that belong in the past and magnifying unresolved emotional pain. The quality of our relationship with another is co-created and (unless it is with a child or someone with limited capacity) both of us have responsibility for how it is. But by shifting how you are you can bring about change. You will give it the best chance to become healthier and you can choose how to engage with it.

Step one is to heal the relationship with yourself. Learn how to treat yourself with respect, respond to yourself with love and address your unconscious triggers. If you are reacting emotionally because of your own ‘baggage’ it is hard to create a respectful, constructive relationship with someone else.

Step two is to wake up to how you habitually react in relationships and how you project yourself to others.  A mindful perspective on the situation puts you back in control.

Step three is to learn to respond consciously to others and invite a constructive interaction. These are incredible life skills that will have massive impact on all your relationships.

Step four  is to explore whether this relationship is an opportunity for you to continue to grow or if it is unhealthy for you. Take responsibility for yourself – is continuing as you are beneficial and aligned with your values?

Step five  is to build healthy practices so you can create more and more constructive and loving relationships. We all have a tendency to drop back into old patterns, changing how you are is a long term project but the benefits are felt every day so it isn’t hard to keep working at it.

The difference with Focussed Mindfulness is that it doesn’t just highlight what you might do to improve your relationship, it gives you the how. The tools are simple to use yet give you a deep experience of your worth, your values and your best path. They also give you the means to clear the baggage you are carrying which prevent you from keeping this clarity.

You can try a single session – this will give you great insight

Or a course of 5 which will give you then toolkit to continue working with your issues as they arise

Or bring your partner/friend/family member for a day retreat to reset your relationship
